Let's talk about the dreaded New Year's resolution. I shouldn't say dreaded as it's a great way to set goals for the year so take that with a grain of salt. I think some people get intimidated by the new year because they think it means they have to be perfect with their goal setting, but humans are meant to be perfect we're here to learn right!?
So whatever your New Year's resolution may be, whether you are sticking with it or have slipped up more times than you can count just know:
1. You do NOT have to be perfect. Take it one day at a time, then one week at a time, then move to your monthly goals.
2. Take that goal and break it into segments to make it more attainable.
Say you want to get healthier, but you are so overwhelmed because you have no idea how to even start. That right there is gonna have you not even succeed in the goal because you have too much fear and worry in this school. So instead of looking at the big picture, start with a segment of getting healthier. What's one thing you can do today to make you have a healthier lifestyle. Maybe it's walking for 10 minutes, maybe it's doing a couple jumping jacks in the morning to start your day, maybe start intuitively eating so next time you grab that cupcake take a couple seconds to stop and really ask yourself if you really really need it. Chances are when you talk to yourself about why you want to eat something that you don't feel like it's good for your body and think about it, then your brain can tell you what would be a healthier choice for you. Don't just look at the end results and realize it's too far away and, start just today. Then, do weekly goals and so on and so on. It's much more attainable to bring it up.
3. You literally have 12 months in this year. That is such a long time to grow and achieve your goals. Just because something's not happening today or this week or this month does not mean you cannot retry tomorrow or next month. When you keep your mindset positive you will get a more positive outlook on your reality. If you keep the negativity of things that you don't have or didn't happen, you're going to keep getting negative results. It's all about your mindset on how you look at things. Remember you are exactly where you need to be if you just have faith and yourself.
4. And last but not least maybe have a few different goals some that are really easy to achieve and some that are a little more difficult. Prioritize the easier first that way you can see that you have achieved this goal and that if you can do this you can do your next one right?! You got this!
Just remember to be kind to yourself and let yourself grow at the pace that's needed. If you feel like you have a block around achieving your goal then I think the first place you need to look at is your inner mind and healing the way you feel about yourself. Hey, boudoir photography is a great way to escape that am I right!?
I hope this blog post helps you to realize you are allowed to not be perfect, tomorrow is a new day, and thinking negative thoughts about yourself or what you haven't accomplished yet will just set yourself up for failure! Chin up, keep pushing forward!!
